THE NEW GENERAL ZONING PLAN OF MARBELLA
The city of Marbella is growing and is in dire need of zoned land. The mayor of Marbella said that 12 million square meters of rural land will be redistributed to urban ones. The new General Zoning Plan is scheduled to be approved in 2024.
Marbella will be the first city with an urban planning adapted to the new Andalusian law LISTA (Law to Promote the Sustainability of the Andalusian Territory).
The mayor of Ángeles Muñoz said that the document approved at the extraordinary local government council was prepared through “maximum dialogue with the community.” It reflects “the existing reality in the city” and aims to promote flexibility in land use.
“The new plan carries out a detailed diagnosis to ensure that problems and shortcomings that have been going on for many years are addressed,”
“One of the goals we have set for ourselves is that Marbella has a legal system that provides security and adapts to the needs and new demands of our municipality,” Muñoz said.
Foreign demand for housing has maintained its intense strength in the home purchase market in Spain.
